Gusau, Zamfara State - The State Coordinator of Family Planning, Zamfara State Primary Health Care Board, Hajiya Shafa'atu Abubakar Jabbi, has warned against seeking family planning medication from chemists or other unapproved sources. Instead, she encouraged individuals to visit one of the 147 health facility centers in each ward of the 14 local government areas in the state for free family planning medication and treatment.

The warning was given during a one-day engagement with Male Champions on Comprehensive Community Mobilization for Family Planning, organized by the Zamfara State Primary Health Care Board in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The aim of the sensitization program is to reduce maternal and child mortality by enlightening champions on the benefits of birth spacing for promoting quality health for both mothers and children.

Director Community Health and Family Services, Zamfara State Family Health Care Board, Bello Maccido, stressed the importance of involving males in family planning awareness to enlighten their wives on managing family planning.

Director Religious Matters, Zamfara State Ministry for Religious Affairs, Mallam Nura Na Uku, clarified that Islam allows child spacing and birth spacing for health reasons, citing examples from the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) teachings.

A participant, Malam Abubakar Musa, expressed excitement about the sensitization program, which he believed would help resolve family planning disagreements and encouraged the government to sustain such programs for citizen awareness.
