Russian, Chinese Flags Recovered as Kaduna Police Arrest 39 Protest Suspects

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 39 suspects, including a tailor producing Russian flags, during the "End Bad Governance" protest. The suspects, who displayed Russian and Chinese flags, were involved in vandalizing private and public properties, including a Hilux vehicle and a journalist's Toyota Yaris, and setting the KASTLEA office in Zaria on fire.

This is contained in a statement by the command Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, ACP, Mansir Hassan issued on Monday, 5th of August 2024 in Kaduna.

The statement states that, the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, intervened to restore order, using minimal tear gas to calm the hostile situation. 

Among the recovered items were 38 Russian flags, one Chinese flag, catapults, stones, and vandalized items.


The State Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Ali Dabigi, commended his officers and warned residents to adhere to the imposed curfew, stating that violators will face arrest and prosecution. 

He appealed for citizen cooperation with the police and security agencies during this critical period, emphasizing that the curfew aims to protect lives and property and restore peace in Kaduna State.
