Atiku Abubakar Calls for Justice Over Alleged Killing of Hunters in Edo





Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed profound grief following reports of the killing of 16 hunters in Edo State. In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Atiku condemned the incident and called for a transparent and impartial investigation to ensure accountability.


Describing the killings as a grave injustice, Atiku emphasized the importance of protecting innocent lives and maintaining public trust in the nation’s security institutions. “This unfortunate incident demands a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation to uncover and ensure that those responsible are brought to book,” he said.


The former Vice President extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and urged authorities to take swift action to prevent similar occurrences of extrajudicial violence. He also highlighted the need for justice to not only be served but to be seen to be served.


The tragedy has sparked outrage, particularly among Northerners, as disturbing footage of the killings circulates online. The victims, reportedly on their way to Kano to celebrate Eid, were allegedly killed in what has been described as an act of jungle justice.
