IWD: AGRA/NAERLS/Premier Tropicana Calls For Empowering Women In Agriculture

As the world marks International Women’s Day 2025, AGRA/NAERLS has called for urgent and transformative actions to empowered women in agriculture.


Speaking at the ceremony held st NAERLS new ultra modern conference hall, Dr.  Esther Ibrahim AGRA Kaduna  programme Leader emphasized the need for immediate measures to dismantle systemic barriers that hinder women’s accessing agricultural funding..


Dr. Esther Ibrahim said, women face, including limited access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, as well as persistent gender-based violence.


According to her AGRA has been committed to advocating for women’s rights through partnerships and collaborations that have led to improved policies and impactful programs. 


In her remarks, Barrister Hadiza Kabir urged policy makers, activists, and community leaders to intensify efforts in enacting gender-responsive policies and initiatives.


The call for the accelerated action is a call to all stakeholders to join forces in building a just and equitable society.


 Together, we can create a future where every woman and girl can thrive, contribute meaningfully, and live free from discrimination and violence.


Also speaking Dr. Samson Afolabi  Director Premier  Tropicana said, they are in partnership with NAERLS particularly on extension services which is the bedrock of agricultural development among women.


 He said, the linked women with good agricultural practices, marketing strategies as well the whole value chain.


Dr. Afolabi added that they will continue to encourage women to actively participate in agricultural production in the country.


The Director commended NAERLS for their agricultural transformative ideology through technological advancement in modern farming system.


Earlier in his remarks the Executive Director NAERLY Professor Sani Yusuf expressed satisfaction with the level of women in agriculture that join the worldwide International women day celebration.


Prof. Sani Yusuf said women are coming up in food production as their male counterpart are doing.


He called for women empowerment with funding to boost their agricultural production that will improve the nation GDP.


INn his remarks, the Principal Investigator NAERLS Professor Christogonus Daudu said unless government changed its attitude towards agricultural development before  agriculture record a success.


He said, empowering women in agriculture is very important but lack of seriousness is hindering the women progress in agriculture.


According to him NAERLS is in forefront in championing across the value chain.


Prof. Daudu called on all stakeholders to work together in ensuring women are empowered particularly when its comes to access of productive resources to enabled them contribute in transformative system.
