Kaduna State – The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kaduna State Wing, has called for calm and patience among primary school teachers in the state following delays in the payment of their February salaries.
In a statement released by the union, Senior Assistant Secretary General Ayuba Adamu Kaltungo attributed the delay to a federal directive mandating local governments across the country to open direct accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as part of efforts to fully implement local government autonomy.
While the development has caused inconvenience for the affected teachers, the union expressed confidence that the Kaduna State Government is taking active steps to resolve the issue.
The statement assured teachers that measures are being put in place to ensure the delayed salaries are disbursed within the week. Kaltungo highlighted the union’s tireless efforts to expedite the resolution of the matter and urged teachers to remain calm during this period.
Additionally, the union appreciated the Kaduna State Government’s commitment to addressing the issue and expressed optimism that the promised timeline for payment would be honored.
The NUT reiterated its dedication to safeguarding the welfare of teachers and encouraged cooperation as solutions are implemented.
