Sallah celebration; Christian Leaders Join Muslims at Eid Praying Ground in Kaduna to Promote Unity.

In a demonstration of interfaith harmony, Pastor (Dr.) Yohanna Buru, a prominent Christian leader from Kaduna, addressed thousands of Muslims gathered at the Eid-praying ground in Murtala Mohammed Square on Sunday, March 30th, 2025. His message of peace and unity was a poignant reminder of the power of collaboration between different religious communities.

The event, which sought to promote love, understanding, and tolerance, was a significant milestone in advancing peaceful coexistence in Nigeria. Pastor Buru, who serves as the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, joined hands with a group of Christians to stand in solidarity with the Muslim faithful during their prayers. This gesture underscored the importance of cooperation between Christians and Muslims in building a harmonious society.

For the fourth consecutive year, Pastor Buru and his team participated in the Eid celebrations at the central mosque, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to fostering peace. The gathering drew an array of notable attendees, including former Governor Alhaji (Dr.) Ramalan Yero, esteemed Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, women, and children. The event served as a testament to the growing significance of interfaith dialogue in bridging divides.

In his address, Pastor Buru emphasized the shared spiritual foundation of Christianity and Islam, urging Nigerians to embrace their common humanity. "We must remember that we are one family under God, worshipping the same God. Both the Qur’an and the Bible are holy books sent from one God," he said. He encouraged everyone to set aside differences and work collectively toward a united and prosperous nation.

The pastor extended his congratulations to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, and other distinguished Islamic leaders, recognizing their efforts in fostering unity. He also highlighted the reciprocal gestures of goodwill, noting that Muslims often join Christians during Christmas celebrations, further strengthening intercommunal bonds.

Following the prayers, Pastor Buru reiterated his call for peace, love, and unity to guide Nigeria's future. "Nigeria can achieve its full potential when we work together and embrace peace," he declared, wishing the Muslim community a joyous Eid while praying for continued progress and prosperity.

Joining him at the event were other Christian leaders, including Reverend George John and Elder Sanda, who echoed the importance of promoting understanding and reconciliation.

Sheikh Habib Umar Mahmood, the Chief Imam of the central mosque, expressed profound gratitude for Pastor Buru's unwavering support. "You are very unique, and may God bless you abundantly," he remarked.

Mallam Sunusi Surajo, a member of the Eid-praying ground committee, commended Kaduna State's efforts in championing religious tolerance. He also expressed hope that similar unity would spread across all 36 states of Nigeria, paving the way for a peaceful and unified nation.
