The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has unequivocally condemned the killing of 16 innocent travelers from Northern Nigeria in the Udune Efandion community of Uromi, Edo State.

During a press conference, the CNG described the incident as a "horrific killing" rooted in a "grotesque misjudgment" that led to the false accusation of kidnapping against the victims.

The group called for an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the tragedy, questioning the delay in response from security operatives.

Demanding justice for the victims and their families, the CNG stressed the importance of national unity and mutual respect among all ethnic groups.

"We categorically condemn this act of barbarism and the incitement of local southern youths to commit such a heinous crime," stated Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, National Coordinator of the CNG.

Furthermore, the group emphasized the need to safeguard the rights of Northerners, particularly against illegal harassment in workplaces and communities.

The CNG advocated for the freedom to practice their faith without hindrance, along with protection for Northerners when they become minorities in various localities.

The silence of leaders who claim to represent Northern interests was also criticized, with the group urging decisive actions to ensure the safety and security of Northerners across Nigeria.

Additionally, the CNG demanded compensation for the victims' families and called on the government to take firm action against the perpetrators.

In solidarity, the group extended its heartfelt condolences to the victims' families and encouraged Nigerians to work collectively towards a future where dialogue triumphs over violence.
